America is supposed to be better than this. This is why due process is part of our Constitution: to help prevent atrocities like these from happening. I don't care if you're a United States citizen or not, as a human being, you deserve a chance to plea your case.

Long ago, I used to write rants of the day, where I made commentary on daily life. For some time I have been wanting to continue that tradition, so here it goes!

Also note I frequently write about other things, such as computer science musings, all located under the Zoop menu to the left!

Please note, while I can be scathing in my rants of the day, I write these for two reasons: they can be entertaining, and we should all strive to be better at everything we do. I am no exception!

I recently changed my banking, and I am slowly transitioning my various accounts to draw from that new account. I did it to most of my services quickly, but I dreaded to update AT&T. This is why:

1. Let's go to AT&T.com and login!

CONVENIENT: Login on the main page. Good doggy! Here's a treat, my monthly payment...

2. Gotta select home phone/internet, because that's what I'm updating.

OBVIOUS QUESTION: Why don't they just have one account for everything?

3. I'll just type in the user name, and voila, here we go, right?

NOPE!

4. Of course, it's not just the user name, as the text box title would suggest. It's actually my full att.net e-mail.

COMMON SENSE LACKING: Why not have "AT&T E-mail" be the title of the user name text box, if that's what they want?
DERP: Is there a single technical-savvy person uses their att.net e-mail anyway?!

5. My password should be one of my normal, long, convoluted passwords. Google and the US government tells us our accounts get hacked every day:

SECURITY IS FOR LOSERS: I forgot! AT&T doesn't like passwords that are actually HARD TO CRACK. They disallow symbols. They should just ask me to use dictionary words too!

6. Reset password. Do not pass go, do not collect 200 dollars, waste 10 minutes.

7. Alright, finally in. Should be easy to update my account information with the convenient "Pay Bills" link...!

NOPE!

8. I'll admit. I'm human. I can make mistakes. Let's review the steps here:

FAILURE: Great... now I have to call you, which I loathe doing. I am expecting long conversations with machines... Honestly, I had to call you anyway about my bill mysteriously increasing over the last three years anyway!

The ZoopTEK server should be back up and running!

Once those spammers find a way in, they really cause a lot of trouble.

For a while it was just a few posts a day, nothing I couldn't keep up with. Then the last few weeks it turned into hundreds of posts a day. I had to bring out the proverbial spam nuke to get rid of it all.

Unfortunately, just like real nukes, you don't always hit the intended targets. Some of you, despite our best efforts, may have gotten your user names blown to bits in the spam war. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience; luckily, is not difficult for you to recreate your accounts.

ZoopTEK server is back up! Coniclysm high scores, Mastery, and PBON are all back and ready to rock!

It appears that while I was away for the weekend, the power supply for the ZoopTEK server went kaput. It will be down until I can procure a replacement. This unfortunately means that Coniclysm's high scores, Mastery, and Star Fighter Duel 3 will be down until then. We apologize for the inconvenience.
